Gwanghwamun and the Square

“Gwanghwamun and the Square.”

A place where countless people gather.

A place where their eyes, ears,

and voices open.

A place where people come together in purpose,

resist injustice,

and share the joy of victory.

My 40th run of the year,

not in Anyang, but here.

Remembering the past,

sharing the smiles of the many who visit this place today,

and looking toward the hope of tomorrow.

So that this hope

may be shared with everyone,

today as well —
